Wednesday WTF: March 15, 2017
Bell and Rogers (Cable Bills)
Happy “Hump Day” Friends. Today I’m going to introduce you to my weekly gear grinder series named “Wednesday WTF.” Those who know me know that nothing gets me going more than someone ripping me off. Today my target is the ever wonderful Bell Canada. I am a customer of Bell. Sadly my friends with Rogers don’t have it much better. To me, these companies are the equivalent of vultures circling their wounded prey. I have many reasons to dislike these companies but I will leave it for these two reasons. I don’t want to write a novel because lord knows I could.
1) They treat they existing customers far worse than their potential clients. Loyalty means nothing to them. It almost seems as if they don’t care if you leave them. How they prove this is through terrible customer service and constant price increases. I have called several times to get service done on my account and then I play the wait on hold game. Pass me along like a left handed cigarette to different departments until I get angry and hang up. Seems to be a smart way to resolve my conflicts. I love passive aggressive tactics about as much as I love the negative 15-degree weather in March. That coupled with the fact that my bill seems to get bigger every 4 months and yes I am one satisfied customer….. Even worse I get mail promoting deals for the services I have that cost half of what I pay. Let’s add a little insult to injury right?
2) In my second reason, I get a little deeper. I am a bona fide Capitalist. I believe in competition and am dead set against monopolies. This is why the acquisition of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) by both Rogers and Bell bothered me so much. If they are willing to work together on this project then what else are they willing to work on. I think one of them is price fixing our services. You see the same promotions for both companies. You also see the same putrid customer service from both. Seems like they have built a model together. A model of crap product and terrible service. Sadly, we are left with little other options for the services they provide. The alternative companies are not much better. I myself know I will be looking hard elsewhere for my telecom services.
Thanks for listening to my rant on these gross companies. Please message me any things that grind your gears (money-wise of course). Tune in tomorrow for “Thursday’s Trim the Trash Time.” Keep warm and Happy Saving Friends.
