Friday Final Reflection: June 9, 2017

Organization and Productivity

Happy Friday friends and welcome back to my final reflection on the week. This week has been a good one in my world punctuating with the integration of superb organizational tools. I will be completely honest, some weeks it’s hard to keep track of everything going on in my world. With constant client meetings, questions, paperwork, educational events, networking events, social media plus all the amazing content I’m producing (cough, cough) it can be hard to keep up. My web team at SixFive Interactive has shown me several ways to plan out my day. Honestly, it is working wonders. I have literally every hour of every day planned out. Even as I write this it is within my planned one hour window for this post. So why is this important?

Staying on track is huge!

Ask any uber-successful person what their most valuable resource is. They will almost always tell you time. Time cannot be replaced and cannot be taken back. My day is mapped out from 5 AM to 10 PM. I do find a few daydreaming moments here and there but for the most part, I stay on track. Sundays nights are my time to map out my week including meals, meetings and prep time. Being self-employed can be daunting so making sure every hour counts is huge. This is true for those working 9-5 jobs as well. Part of that planning time can and should be relaxation too. This includes time with friends and alone time.

Stuff only gets done if someone does it, so do it!

I remember back in the day when a whole day would go by and I would literally do nothing, absolutely nothing. Sadly these days I don’t have that luxury. Most people have a To Do List a mile long and sometimes it gets so daunting that none of it gets done. The best way to get it all done is to assign it to yourself and allow a reasonable time to do it all. Knock them out one by one. Working on a team can be difficult as well when duties are assigned. Keeping each other on track is essential and helps it all get done.

I have incorporated todoist.com and my Google calendar to work together to help my productivity. I have also utilized Google Docs to organize a group project I am working on. Ideally, I would have every minute of every day planned out but that would be tough. Maybe one day it’ll be that way. So until the robots take over I will find better and better ways to be productive. It works wonders for your money as well. Earlier this week I released a budget worksheet that can help you get organized and I will be releasing more and more in the future.

You may say: “Well none of this sounds fun at all!” That’s kind of true, but I find that being organized allows for me to free up leisure time and still get shit done. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend Friends!
