Friday Final Reflection: March 17, 2017

Banks Under Fire

Happy St. Patricks’s Day Facebook. This week has been an interesting one for me. I have received a lot of positive feedback for the new website and I truly appreciate the kind words. The “likes” and shares as always welcome as well. Friday reflection will always be about what has impacted me over the course of the week. This week one specific story has come to my attention. It has me feeling concerned, yet optimistic for the future.

The CBC interview with former TD Bank employee’s was a real eye opener for most. Their complete lack of concern for their clients well being is shocking to many. Not to me sadly. Employee’s of other banks have come forward and echoed those practices. Despite all this nasty news, there is a silver lining.

For me, it just reaffirms what I already believed. I have been a victim of shady practices numerous times. On a positive note, I am glad more people know where they stand. Call me jaded but I expect those at the top to do what they can to turn a huge profit. I also know that I would rather have all the information. I believe we are living in an era where transparency will be paramount and this makes me happy.

The access to information today is amazing. The willingness of the younger generation to seek out this information and challenge those in power is also stunning. I think people 35 and under are more engaged and perceptive than people give them credit for. I believe that they have the intelligence and a level of realism that will be necessary to bridge us into the next generation.

Here are a couple of things that are important to me: Always demand the truth. Also if something sounds fishy it usually is. Don’t let anyone off the hook, especially the banks. My Dad was harsh but he taught me some very important lessons. One was that if someone doesn’t truly have your back, screw them!

Thanks for reading my Final Reflection and tune in next week for my “Monday Morning Money Moment.” Have a great weekend friends!
